Description

The City of Valdez, Alaska is accepting applications for a Budgeting & Financial Planning Analyst. This is a permanent full-time, exempt position. Review of applications will begin June 19, 2017.

Primary Duties

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn and apply advanced concepts, and will be an integral component of the Finance Department’s succession planning and continuity. The Analyst will work closely with the Finance Director in a fast-paced setting that combines finance-related disciplines with a comprehensive understanding of all City operations. He/She will assist with the creation, implementation, and analysis of complex budgeting, financial planning, analytical, and treasury management initiatives, as well as providing support to high-level accounting functions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is disciplined, creative, resourceful, capable of independent work and group collaboration, and comfortable on a steep learning-curve. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field. Assigned tasks will necessitate expertise in spreadsheet design and advanced spreadsheet functions.
